Summer Concert #6, August 14, 2011 @ 7:00 P.M.

Steve Thomas conducts this week as the band welcomes the Creagan More Pipes and Drums for a joint performance. Children should bring a small hand percussion instrument (like shakers, for example, or a tambourine) so they can join in on some of the marches with the band.

Music listing from the program has been moved to “Previous Concert Programs”

  1. This was posted on Cape Ann Online, the community message board for Cape Ann:

“Usually, when I go, I don’t get a program because I like to be surprised. And last night’s concert had a HUGE pay-off.

With the weather threatening, but dry, our own StevetS at the helm guided the Rockport Legion Band through scores heavily leaning on the British Isles. At a brake about half-way through the evening, from further up the road to the north, came the crying of bagpipes, the cannon’s report of a big base drum and the sharp “rat-tat-tat-tat” of Scottish snares as the Creagan More Pipes & Drums came on, their kilts and sporrans swaying to their stately march! Maginificant! After a few shared pieces, the Creagan More started “Highland Cathedral” and when Steve brought in the RLB, wet eyes and goose-bumps were the order of the moment!

Friends, young and old alike, The Rockport Legion Band concerts have got to be one of the greatest things you can do in the summer on Cape Ann. It’s a perfectly fitting exclamation point to the end of a weekend in one of the most wonderful places on earth!

    THANK YOU R.L.B.! “
